How long have you been creating art?

Technically, since I was a little kid. But I started getting paid for it when I was 12, and I started taking it seriously rather recently. I made my first digital works in 2016, but I quit after 2 pieces. I picked it back up in 2018, this was also the year I started tabling in conventions.

What inspired you to go into the creative field to become an artist?

Me, and my passion for making things.

How would you describe your style of art and what genre does it fall under?

I do multiple styles in different genres, so I guess there isn’t really one category that I can put myself into. I don’t wanna rush into finding my comfort zone. I prefer to go with the natural flow of my creative juices.

What influenced your art into what it is now?

My life, the things I went through, the movies and shows that I like, etc. Basically everything that I’ve experienced in my 21 years of existence has influenced my work.

What are your favorite mediums/programs to use for drawing, and why?

The mighty pencil will forever hold the crown! But digitally, I use CSP [Clip Studio  Paint] and Sai

What are some of the challenges you faced when you first began drawing?

Art block, and insecurities. I still have them now, but it’s significantly less.

What are some of the new challenges your career has brought you today and how are you overcoming them?

Other than the pandemic, I think it’s mostly family stuff that gets in the way of my career. Everything else is just part of the natural process of moving forward in your career path.

Right now I’m trying to improve my skills and gain a bigger audience.

What are your goals for the future for art?

I want to be a successful Independent artist. I want to sell prints, comic books, stickers, etc.

Describe your art station/material set up.

Inconsistent!

If you could go back ten years from now and tell yourself anything, what would it be, and why?

Trust your gut and just keep doing what you love.

What’s the biggest achievement you’ve accomplished so far and what about it makes you proud?

Getting myself out there. I’ve been struggling with anxiety for the bigger chunk of my life, so meeting new people, sharing my work, and exercising the “social” part of my career has been very difficult. Recently, I’ve been able to power through it and actually engage with people and get my art out there. It’s a very big step for me, and I’m very happy about that!

What advice would you give to other artists breaking into the art field or pursuing creative careers themselves?

You are your number #1 asset, take care of yourself, physically, and mentally.

Peony is an amazing asset to the art world, providing inspirational pieces for others around her!  With her skill in multiple styles and methods, there is no doubt that the path is laid ahead in success and she’ll adapt well to all that comes her way next.
